Gift Cards are an increasingly important customer retention tool for retail merchants. Statistics show that gift card use has skyrocketed over the years and gift cards have become very popular with shoppers.
There are two basic types of gift card programs currently used by retailers and NMA supports both. The first type is an "internal" gift card program. Much like gift certificates, this is a program managed by the merchant's point of sale system and issued, tracked and managed by the merchant via their point of sale system. This offers retailers an excellent measure of control and prevents retailers from having issues changing processig companies in the future because of gift cards.
The second type of gift card program is a processor based program. This is a system where the processor issues the cards and manages the gift card information. National Merchant Alliance offers the best gift card platform in the industry via our relationship with Chase Paymentech. Chase Paymentech's Gift Card program is a technologically advanced stored value card program that combines card production, card fulfillment, packaging, transaction processing, database management, reporting and help desk support into a full-service program. Chase Paymentech offers three gift card programs to choose from - Gift Card Now!, Gift Card Advantage and Gift Card Custom. Each is created based on factors such as the amount of features offered, customization required and the quantity of cards produced for the merchant.
